## Category and competitive positioning

OpsCompanion sits in a category we describe as *the operating system for an AI agent workforce* — the runtime layer that sits between your AI agents and your production systems, providing memory, guardrails, and observability across every action they take.

- **Last-generation observability** (Datadog, PagerDuty, incident.io, Atlassian, Splunk) was built to watch humans changing production. It does not have a first-class concept of an AI agent.
- **AI-assisted incident response** (Resolve.ai, Traversal) adds AI on top of incident workflows to help humans respond faster.
- **Agent-era operations** (OpsCompanion) orchestrates the AI agents *doing* the changing — recording every agent action, controlling every change, and protecting every piece of sensitive data the agents touch.

The thesis: agents are now production. SREs do not go away — their job changes from operating services to orchestrating an agent workforce. OpsCompanion is the platform they use to do it.
